Kralingen-West is a lively district. For a large part, this area is surrounded by water. The Boezem, which connects Kralingen and Crooswijk, flows through Kralingen-West. The district consists of six different neighbourhoods (Jaffa, Vredenoord, Jericho, Gashouderbuurt, Vlinderbuurt and Lusthof). Each neighborhood has its own atmosphere.
The district Kralingen-Crooswijk consists of the following neighbourhoods:
The pre-war parts are popular 'cosy' neighbourhoods. Kralingen-West is predominantly a residential area, with different neighbourhoods and a wide variety of housing. Improving the housing is necessary, because of the design (1980s) and the state of maintenance.
Kralingen-West currently has over 15,000 inhabitants. The district is not easy to characterise. The neighbourhoods differ greatly from each other. This variation is not only a characteristic, but a strength. Many people work in the wholesale and retail trade, car repair and the education and health and welfare sectors.
Kralingen-West has a large number of facilities that you can use if you rent a house in this neighborhood. A choice of shops, restaurants and specialist shops characterise the area. The district also has green activities: the Botanical Garden Kralingen is located on the Kralingse Plaslaan.
